If you are looking to put an extension on your house, then you have no doubt had some ideas as to what kind of work you have in mind. The basic idea of what the finished product will look like has no doubt formed in your mind, but how do you turn the idea into a reality?
Fill in your details below and we’ll put you in touch with local extension experts so that you can compare no obligation extension quotes and save money – for free! Time to complete: 30 seconds.
The work of extending your home is not something to undertake lightly – it is an effort that will take time and will not be cheap. If done well, it will certainly be worth it, of course, but before you are ready to hire someone to do the job it is important to be confident that they can do it, can deliver on time and come in on the agreed budget.
That’s where we come in: Extensionprices.co.uk is a service that takes the stress out of getting quotes for extension work. You contact us, tell us a little about the kind of work that you want to have done, and we’ll do the rest, reaching out to our network of independent contractors who can give you no-nonsense, no-obligation extension quotes.
It’s as easy as 1-2-3 … literally!
Just getting the right quote from the right company can save you thousands of pounds, so it is definitely worth looking for the best deal you can get.
Whatever type of extension you are looking for, we can provide the extension quotes for you. There are a number of different formats that you might be looking for: some jobs will include extending over a garage, while others might involve building an extra storey onto a bungalow. You might want to build out to make a bigger kitchen, or even convert your garage into an additional room. We can ensure that you get the best, most relevant quotes for the work you need – different contractors will be better for different jobs, and we’ll find the right ones for you.
The quotes we source for you are completely free, no-obligation quotations for work you need done. If you choose not to proceed with the work, or to turn down all of the quotes we have provided, then you do so without paying a penny and without prejudice. You can then look elsewhere, or come back to us for a different quote. It’s up to you – but we will not charge you simply for the privilege of providing a quote.
A full quote for building work should include all of the costs that will be involved in taking the work from start to finish. The most obvious costs are materials and labour; you will of course need to pay for the time of the workers who will take your extension from a plan to a reality, and you’ll need to pay for the construction materials that are used in the process of getting the job done. Beyond that, though, there are likely to be other costs. We’ll ensure that you don’t have to pay over the odds for these parts of the job.
Firstly, there will likely be architect fees to pay for the creation of a blueprint without which the job cannot be safely done. You will have your idea of what you want the extension to include. The architect is the person who will turn your idea into a blueprint, the vital step between imagination and a finished product. Most importantly, the architect is the person who will find a way that the work can be done safely and securely, and that your extension will be built to last. Their fees can vary – but if you are looking for a small extension, the fees aren’t likely to be huge.
There may also be additional costs for more complicated jobs that need to be done as part of the extension. While a homeowner might wish for a straight build-up extension on top of their garage, the process of completing that work might involve putting in place extra supporting joists, taking down walls, and more besides. Again, these additional costs can mount up – but if you get quotes from reliable, reputable contractors there is no need for them to rise too high.
Finally, you will have to make some allowance for VAT on any building work you have done. This is usually charged at the standard rate of 20%, with some exemptions that are charged at 5% (such as turning a single home into a House of Multiple Occupation or converting a commercial property into a residential dwelling). Without paying the required rate of VAT on a building job, the extension cannot be said to have been built legally, and would be uninsurable.
The builders we work with are fully accredited and have all the relevant insurance for the work that they carry out, and they work only with similarly-accredited contractors. We recommend, nonetheless, that you check with the builders and contractors yourself before any work commences so that you can see with your own eyes the evidence of their accreditations. It is always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to extension work and no building contractor worth their salt will be reluctant to show you their documentation.
